Finleyville-Based Food Business Begins Delivery in Irwin
Girl Friday Cooking Company Offers Paleo Menu and Specialties
Finleyville, PA (November 17, 2015) – A Finleyville-based food business will begin delivery operations in Irwin. Girl Friday Cooking Company, owned and operated by Peters Township resident Gretchen McNary, will offer delivery to Irwin residents on Wednesdays at the Wayfarer Crossfit, located at 4022 Route 130.
“We are very excited to expand our offerings to the Irwin area,” McNary said. “All of our dishes are homemade, even the condiments. My hope is that residents will enjoy the food as much as we enjoy making it!”
To place an order, people simply visit the website www.GirlFridayCookingCo.com, and choose from the menu of selections, which is updated each Thursday. Orders are due by noon on Sunday.
Girl Friday Cooking specializes in a wide range of Paleo dishes, which are meals that are full of lean protein, fruits, vegetables, healthy fats and that are free of artificial or processed ingredients. “I approach the Girl Friday menu just as I would my family’s own weekly menu,” McNary explained. “I sit down and think about what is in season and what I would like to eat for the week.”
McNary launched Girl Friday Cooking in December 2014, when she began cooking for people using her own kitchen and supplies. She received four orders the first week, 16 the second and by January 1, she was totaling about 130 meals per week. Today, she averages between 170 to 200 orders per week– numbers that required her to seek out the larger commercial space.
“I first recognized a need for the kind of cooking I do through members at my gym,” she explained. “People wanted to eat healthy food but did not always have the time. So, I started cooking things for people here and there and decided to take a leap and make it a legitimate business.”
Among her favorite dishes to make are Kalua Pork with Grilled Pineapple, Paleo lasagna and fajitas. Her customer’s favorites include her Paleo Chinese Chicken Salad, Paleo lasagna, and Korean Jop Chae, a Korean noodle dish made with sweet potato noodles, lots of fresh vegetables and thinly sliced filet. It’s a dish that takes hours to make.
In addition to the food, Girl Friday Cooking also offers gift certificates, and can make meals for new parents, families who have just moved, individuals who have recently suffered a loss and for those with various other special circumstances.
Also taking part in the Girl Friday Cooking grand opening festivities is Running Om Green, a local company that specializes in making healthy juices and drinks for people of all ages. Amy Gordon, who founded the business and will be sharing business space with Girl Friday Cooking, will be at the event serving juice samples.
“I got the idea for my business about six years ago, when I was trying to get my children to eat fruits and vegetables,” Gordon said. “We started making healthy smoothies and that evolved into juices. I am hoping that what I offer makes life easier for other families.”
