Catering is Busy!

Good morning! Our catering portion of Girl Friday is getting crazy busy. Of course, that’s a great thing. Graduations and communions are the big one right now along with kids birthday parties. I guess it’s time for more growth. I’m good with that and I’ll need some adjustment time. If you are trying to book with me and your event is not in the next 2 months, be patient. I will get to you. I promise.

The meal delivery service is doing great as well. The orders are consistent which I love. It keeps us on our toes, that’s for sure. This week, I decided to incorporate the catering portion of things on the weekly menu. Each week, we’ll feature something from that menu. Seems like a fun idea for me. This week we’ll start with our Pesto Pasta Salad. It’s soooooo good.

Checking in…

It feels like forever since I wrote a blog. I get so wrapped up in all of my duties that there is never enough time, plus I swear no one reads them. ha ha

Things are moving along at Girl Friday. I have an awesome staff of people and we work so well together. I’m so thankful for them every week. We are constantly thinking of way to makes things better and we have been instituting some subtle changes. I will admit that we are having a bit of an identity crisis. As you may have noticed we have been moving towards a more clean-eating lifestyle and not just limiting things to just paleo. I understand that people are really into keto at the moment, and we are adding some of those items in rotation along with all the favorites. Some good changes…

We changed up the marinade. We also added Cod to the Pick-Your-Own rotation. Cod will be available every week from now on. We have decided to move away from the breakfast bakes for a bit. We need to freshen things up a bit and add more interesting options for breakfast. I think that this is the biggest struggle that we all have. We added overnight nights last month and I have to say, they are my new favorite. I cannot get enough. I hope you are enjoying them too! Look for pancakes and other items in the next few weeks.

Catering update…

Now- Let’s talk catering. We are steady on that front. We are hosting parties almost every weekend at this point. It’s been such a fun adventure. I get to meet the most interesting people. As you may or may not know, the catering service is very different from the weekly stuff. The same concept is consistent though: good quality & clean ingredients. I’m working on updating the catering menu and putting everything online. Come June, we’ll be going full force and getting the word out there. In September, we’ll host a huge Open House. It will give people a chance to come in and check out the spot and eat some awesome food. That night, we party. I feel like we have so much to celebrate.

Our Spot is Staying Put!

Did I mention that my building is under contract and the new landlord wants us to stay? I can’t wait to sign that 5-year lease. The past few months were really difficult for me. Not knowing who was going to buy the building and if they wanted me to stay. Being in limbo is not fun especially if it’s something that you worked so damn hard for. I feel like a huge weight has been lifted and now i’m ready to tackle the next 5 years!!!! I truly love Finleyville but most importantly the building that houses my cute little spot!

More Kids Parties

One more thing…..We are ramping up our children parties. Did you know that I have an amazing chef on my staff that is also is a cooking instructor? I do. She’s the shit. She loves teaching especially children. She finally finished her bio and it should be up on the website soon. Be sure to check it out. We’ll be posting a lot about these parties along with several packages for you to choose from.

Excited for the New Year

I feel like I haven’t written anything in forever. I’m pretty excited about this coming year. I’m confident that it’s going to be better than last year. We’re making some changes to the menu. I’m getting bored and i’m sure you are too. We’ll keep the staples, and I’ve decided to add some things to the weekly rooster.

I know everyone loves our non-leafy salads. Typically we bust those out for the summer but I think you guys need them in the winter as well. We’re going to jazz up breakfast options too. We’ll start making overnight oats along with chia puddings. You may even see a parfait or two on the upcoming menus.

I plan to change the focus to be more clean eating as a whole and not just one specific way of eating, like Paleo. That will always be an option but now you have more options!

Stay tuned and always let us know what you liked and didn’t like. Tell us what you want to see more of. We listen to our people and they they always get what they want. After all, I wouldn’t be here doing what I do best with you guys!

When one door closes, another one opens.

It’s been a while since I’ve made blog post, but I have a few things to share this week.

Let’s start with delivery. In the past, we claimed that we delivered on Wednesday morning. To be perfectly honest, we always delivered our food on Tuesday evening. For a long time, we wouldn’t be done working until late in the evening on Tuesday. Since we have added more staff and work more efficiently, it makes sense for us change it officially. We can handle it now! If you choose delivery, we always call or text first so you are aware that it is coming and can make arrangements to receive the order, even if that means leaving a cooler out in case no one will be there to accept it. We have something new for you. We are now offering a soup and salad combo. I’ve been meaning to do it for years, and figured now is the time. I mean, who doesn’t love soup and salad?

Lastly, I wanted to dispel some rumors. The building that I currently rent for Girl Friday is for sale. Girl Friday is not closing nor is the business for sale. If you have an event booked with us, do not worry. I will be in the Finleyville space until at least June. I have a rock solid lease, so I’m not going anywhere until then. I really struggled with putting this out there. It’s been one of the most unsettling things these past few weeks. I have worked so hard on making this space my own. Sadly, the building requires a lot of attention and money, and I do not feel that it would be wise for me to buy it at this time. In a few years, possibly, but for now, no. All I can do is hope that whoever buys it, wants to keep me there. If not, I will find a new space. This will not keep me down. I promise you that. All I ask is that you send me good vibes. I love all my people, and I love what I do. This is just a little bump in the road. As the old saying goes, WHEN ONE DOOR CLOSES, ANOTHER ONE OPENS.

Special 4th of July Menu

Happy Friday everyone! I know the menu is super late, but I was thinking about how to handle the menu for next week since it falls on a holiday. Since I’ve been at this for a couple years, I have decided to offer some of our most popular items on the catering menu. You can still order PYOs and the family style options.

Want even better news? ALL deliveries will fall on Monday instead of Tuesday to ensure that every gets their food in a timely manner since the 4th falls on Wednesday! Pick-up at Girl Friday will be Tuesday from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm. Let us take the pressure off you for the 4th. We have some great appetizer and salad options, and our famous pulled pork as an entree. You’ll be the hit of party if you show up with that!

If you find something on the menu and want to order a protein with it, scroll down to our family style section and order up some grilled chicken, steak, salmon or pork tenderloins.

A Small Change to Our Payment Methods

First, don’t worry, you can still pay all of the same ways you could before. We just needed to refine our Payment Method language because we are no longer using Freshbooks. This is mostly an internal change and should not really affect our lovely customers. Here’s a breakdown of the new options.

PayPal – No changes here.

When you select this payment option, you’re taken to PayPal to process your payment. You don’t need a PayPal account, but I recommend it. Who wants to keep entering in their credit card info each week? If you have an account, all of your payment info is stored safely with PayPal and you just need to login to access it. PayPal can still accept your credit card for payment even if you don’t have an account with them, but you’ll have to enter your card numbers, expiration date, etc. each time you pay. It makes no difference on my end. Do whatever works for you!

COD (Check or Cash) – This has replaced Freshbooks.

This is for those of you who like to leave me a check or cash. You can keep doing that. Now, instead of getting an email with a link to a Freshbooks invoice, you’ll receive an email that contains all of your order information with the total at the bottom. How easy is that?

Gift Certificate – This is new.

If you’re using a Gift Certificate, select this option, and enter the gift certificate number in the field that opens up. If you still owe a balance after using your gift certificate, just leave a check or cash at your pickup/delivery location. If you still have some money left over on your gift certificate – no problem! We’d love to have you order again next week.
